Game between Xanthi and Atromitos postponed

The Super League playout battle between Xanthi and Atromitos has formally been postponed as a consequence of coronavirus fears.

This following statement was released by the Super League organisation:

“It is announced that the Xanthi - Atromitos match has been postponed for precautionary reasons and will be organised for a later date by the organising committee.”

As previously reported on AGONAsport, the game had originally been scheduled for Sunday instead of Saturday, but the Super League has now taken the decision to postpone the match indefinitely. A rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the Xanthi area has resulted in the game being postponed.

Initially, reports suggested that the match was set to be played on Wednesday 10 June, but that is now looking unlikely with the two teams scheduled to compete in their next games on Saturday 13 June.

In the 2019/2020 Super League regular season, Atromitos finished in seventh spot with 32 points from 26 games, while Xanthi claimed 12th position with 18 points. Xanthi were docked 12 points as a result of their involvement in a multi-ownership case with PAOK and irregularities in their shares.
