Giakoumakis has finally hit the jackpot again. Since May 22, 2019, when he registered an important marker for OFI in the Super League relegation/promotion playoff against Platanias, the 25-year-old hadn’t scored a single goal in a competitive match. Nevertheless, the hapless striker managed to end that miserable streak on Saturday, scoring the winning goal for Gornik Zabrze against LKS Lodz on the road.

With 36 minutes on the clock, the ball bounced its way into Giakoumakis’ path, who subsequently thumped a powerful attempt beyond the opposing goalkeeper. Giakoumakis was later substituted in the 72nd minute of play as his team went on to win the game 1-0.

Fellow AEK loanee, Stavros Vasilantonopoulos, played the full 90 minutes for Gornik Zabrze.

Both Giakoumakis and Vasilantonopoulos joined the Polish outfit on loan from AEK in March. At the moment, Gornik Zabrze occupy 11th place of the Ekstraklasa standings, boasting 36 points from 11 matches.
