For the second year running Giannis Antetokounmpo will serve as a captain at the NBA All-Star Game after finishing as the leading vote-getter for the NBA’s Eastern Conference.

The NBA revealed the final results of fan voting for next month’s All-Star Game in Chicago on Thursday night with Antetokounmpo receiving a little more than 5.9 million votes.

Pascal Siakam (Toronto Raptors), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Kemba Walker (Boston Celtics), and Trae Young (Atlanta Hawks) are the four Eastern Conference players to also be named to the All-Star Game as starters.

In the Western Conference, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James finished as the leading vote-getter and will also serve as a captain. Antonio Davis (Los Angeles Lakers), Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks), Kawhi Leonard (Los Angelese Clippers), and James Harden (Houston Rockets) were also named starters out of the Western Conference.

Across the league, only James and Doncic received more votes than Antetokounmpo as the Greek Freak prepares to participate in his fourth-straight NBA All-Star Game.

In a repeat of last year’s event, Antetokounmpo will go up against James in the NBA All-Star Draft on 6 February as both players will pick their teams in a live broadcast on TNT.

The NBA is scheduled to round-out the All-Star selections when it announces the reserves on 30 January. The NBA All-Star Game is scheduled to take place at the United Center in Chicago on 16 February.
