Giannis sets personal best in win against Dominican Republic

Giannis Antetokounmpo set another personal best on Monday, as Greece defeated the Dominican Republic 87-75 at the Atlas Tournament in China.

By registering 26 points, NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo set a new personal scoring with the Greek national team, beating his previous best of 22 which was set against the Netherlands at the 2015 Acropolis Tournament:

This is Greece’s second consecutive friendly win in China after thrashing Jordan on Saturday. The Episimi Agapimeni will play Venezuela in the final of the competition on Tuesday at 14:30 Greek time.

Giorgos Papagiannis (12 points), Giorgos Printezis (11 points) and Ioannis Papapetrou (10 points) also reached double figures for Greece.

THE MATCH

In an evenly-matched first half, the opponents kept in touch with Greece, only trailing by the one point after the opening two quarters.

However, Greece gradually increased the intensity as the game progressed, winning the third quarter 18-14.

The team then eased to a 21-14 victory in the fourth frame to seal the 87-75 win. One friendly remains before the 2019 FIBA World Cup begins.
