Giannis takes home Player of the Month honours, again

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month for December to take home the award for the second month running.

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named the KIA NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month for December, the NBA announced on Thursday.

It’s the second straight month that Antetokounmpo has received the award as the 25-year-old continues to shine for the Eastern Conference-leading Bucks.

Steering Milwaukee to a 13-2 run in December, Antetokounmpo averaged 29.5 points (1st in Eastern Conference), 12.4 rebounds (4th in Eastern Conference) and 5.2 assists per game. Antetokounmpo also shot 55.0% from the field and 39.4% from three as the Greek Freak continues to round-out his game outside of the paint.

In 13 games last month, Antetokounmpo tallied nine games with 20+ points and 10+ rebounds, including five games with 30+ points and 10+ rebounds, and posted his third triple-double of the season.

On the year, Antetokounmpo is averaging career-highs in points (30.4) and rebounds (13.0) in addition to posting 5.6 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1,2 blocks per game.

In addition to winning the award in back-to-back months, Antetokounmpo has now won Player of the Month honours in six of the last seven months dating back to last season. In total, Antetokounmpo has been named Player of the Month on seven separate occasions.

James Harden of the Houston Rockets received Player of the Month honours for the Western Conference.
