Last month, Greece sank to an all-time low in the FIFA Rankings, slipping to 60th place after two poor results against Finland and Liechtenstein. However, the national team made a significant improvement in the two games with Italy and Bosnia this month, conceding a battling 2-0 defeat in Rome before deservedly defeating the latter 2-1 at the Olympic Stadium with a fantastic performance.

Greece have now risen to 58th place in the FIFA Rankings.

Qatar, Côte d’Ivoire, Finland, Congo DR and Scotland are still above the Greeks.

The top four remains unchanged, with Belgium, France, Brazil and England leading the way.

Greece will compete in the concluding two Euro 2020 qualifiers against Armenia and Finland in November. The country currently occupies fifth place of Group J with eight points from as many games.

GRAMMENOS REQUESTS LOAN

Additional reports have suggested that president of the Hellenic Football Federation, Evangelos Grammenos, has requested a loan of three million euros from UEFA to cover debts of 1.8 million. Grammenos is confident that his request will be met with a positive response.
