Following recent wins over Estonia and Great Britain, Greece have climbed into ninth place in the latest edition of the FIBA World Rankings.
 
Greece’s 4-0 start in qualifying for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China helped the Ethniki leapfrog both Australia and Brazil in the rankings, though Greece remain well-off the previous pace that saw the team rank as one of the top sides in Europe for several years.
 
Greece’s latest rise in the rankings has the Ethniki still ranked the seventh-best European side, with Spain ranked the top European nation with their second overall ranking.
 
The United States continue to set the pace atop the rankings, while EuroBasket 2017 winners, Slovenia, are ranked seventh overall and fifth-best in Europe.
