This following statement was released by the EPO:

“The suggestion made by the National Team Committee to hold two friendly matches with Austria in Klagenfurt on October 7, 2020 and Cyprus in Greece on November 11, 2020 has been accepted. The host city for the game with Cyprus is yet to be decided.”

Originally, Greece were supposed to participate in friendly matches during the spring, but they were subsequently cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Nevertheless, with the two friendlies against Austria and Cyprus now confirmed, head coach John van ‘t Schip can now look forward to several matches in the autumn.

Greece failed to qualify for UEFA Euro 2020 after a dreadful start to the qualification campaign. However, since Van ‘t Schip became the head coach last August, the performance level and results on the pitch have greatly improved.

In March, the Greeks were drawn into Group 3 of League C of the Nations League alongside Kosovo, Moldova and Slovenia. The tournament is due to begin in September.
