Greek Cup semifinal first leg schedule announced

The Hellenic Football federation (EPO) announced the dates and times for the Greek Cup semifinal first leg matches.

Four teams remain in this year’s Greek Cup inclduding holders PAOK, last year’s Super League champions AEK, cinderella story Lamia, and Europe seeking Asteras Tripolis. PAOK will match up against the Arkades while AEK will pair with the Lamia in the semifinal stage of the competition. If the favorites advance, PAOK and AEK, it will be an all Dikefaloi Final for a third consecutive season.

Earlier this week, the EPO announced the dates and times for the first leg matches of this year’s Greek Cup semifinals. Both matches will take place on Wednesday, April 3rd with PAOK/Asteras Tripolis set to kick off at 19:00 (GR) and AEK/Lamia a few hours later at 21:30.

The EPO’s scheduling originally posed an issue as Lamia were scheduled to play Panionios just two days before on Monday, April 1st in the Greek Super League. According to footballing regulations, a team cannot play two matches within 48 hours. However, the Super League later decided to move the fixture to Saturday, March 29th due to the EPO’s lapse.

The second leg fixtures will take place on April 24/25th and the final is scheduled for Saturday May 11th.
