AGONAsport’s Shaun Nicolaides rounds up the performances of Greeks playing in other leagues in this week’s Greeks Abroad Review.

Tasos Bakasetas is continuing to enjoy an excellent season in Turkey. On Saturday, the 26-year-old took a leading role for Alanyaspor against Ankaragucu, registering two goals in a comprehensive 5-0 triumph at home. Manolis Siopis contributed with an assist in the same game.

Elsewhere, Taxiarchis Fountas got back to scoring ways with Rapid Vienna in the Austrian Bundesliga, while Panagiotis Vlachodimos hit the target for Grossaspach in Germany’s lower leagues.

MAIN MEN (Comprised of current/former national team players):

Sokratis Papastathopoulos (Arsenal/English Premier League): Remained on the bench during a 2-2 draw at Norwich City.

Konstantinos Mavropanos (Arsenal/English Premier League): Not included in the squad to play against Norwich on the road.

Jose Cholevas (Watford/English Premier League): Played the full 90 minutes of a 2-1 defeat to Southampton away from home.

Nikos Karelis (Brentford/English Championship): The struggling striker is out with a long-term injury. Brentford thrashed Luton Town 7-0 this week.

Panagiotis Retsos (Bayer Leverkusen/German Bundesliga): Kept on the bench as Leverkusen earned a shock 2-1 win at Bayern Munich.

Konstantinos Stafylidis (Hoffenheim/German Bundesliga): Remained an unused substitute as Hoffenheim played to a 1-1 draw against Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Stefanos Kapino (Werder Bremen/German Bundesliga): Watched Werder defeat Wolfsburg 3-2 from the comfort of the substitutes’ bench.

Sebastian Vasiliadis (Paderborn/German Bundesliga): Played the entire 90 minutes of a 3-2 home defeat to RB Leipzig.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos (Hamburg/German Bundesliga 2): Not a member of the squad to play against Osnabruck. His club lost 2-1.

Kostas Manolas (Napoli/Serie A): Played the full 90 minutes against Bologna at home as Napoli conceded a surprise 2-1 defeat.

Orestis Karnezis (Napoli/Serie A): The back-up goalkeeper stayed on the bench in the game with Bologna.

Panagiotis Tachtsidis (Lecce/Serie A): Played the entirety of an important 1-0 triumph at Fiorentina.

Charalampos Lykogiannis (Cagliari/Serie A): Sat on the bench with Cagliari defeating Sampdoria 4-3 in a thriller.

Dimitris Nikolaou (Empoli/Serie B): Received a yellow card while playing the full 90 minutes against Frosinone on the road. Empoli contrived to concede an emphatic 4-0 defeat.

Odisseas Vlachodimos (Benfica/Portuguese Primeira Liga): Tallied a clean sheet as Benfica eased past Maritimo 4-0 in Lisbon.

Andreas Samaris (Benfica/Portuguese Primeira Liga): Did not play any part in the victory against Maritimo at home.

Dimitris Siovas (Leganes/La Liga): Received an early injury against Sevilla and was substituted in the fifth minute. Leganes eventually lost 1-0.

Vasilis Lampropoulos (Deportivo/La Liga 2): Played 90 minutes in the centre of defence as Deportivo played to a 0-0 draw at Lugo.

Efthymis Koulouris (Toulouse/Ligue 1): Started the match against Toulouse, later being substituted in the 75th minute. Toulouse lost 2-1.

Anastasios Donis (Reims/Ligue 1): Included in the starting line-up in the game with Bordeaux and was substituted with 19 minutes remaining. The two teams drew 1-1.

Konstantinos Mitroglou (PSV Eindhoven/Eredivisie): Appeared as a substitute in the 81st minute of a 1-1 draw against Emmen.

Pantelis Hatzidiakos (AZ Alkmaar/Eredivisie): Unfortunately, the talented defender received the dreaded anterior cruciate ligament injury while competing in the UEFA Europa League. AZ defeated VVV Venlo 1-0 at the weekend.

Marios Vrousai (Willem II/Eredivisie): Used as a substitute in the 78th minute of a confident 4-0 beating of Sparta at home.

Vangelis Pavlidis (Willem II/Eredivisie): Included in the starting line-up against Sparta and was substituted with four minutes left on the clock.

Tasos Bakasetas (Alanyaspor/Turkish Super Lig): Scored twice in a 5-0 thrashing of Ankaragucu at home. Substituted in the 88th minute.

Manolis Siopis (Alanyaspor/Turkish Super Lig): Popped up with an assist for the fourth goal against Ankaragucu. Played the full match.

Georgios Tzavellas (Alanyaspor/Turkish Super Lig): Stayed on the bench in the same game.

Carlos Zeca (FC Copenhagen/Danish Superliga): Played the full 90 minutes against Brondby with Copenhagen claiming an exciting 2-1 victory.

Panagiotis Kone (Western United/A-League): Picked up a yellow card while playing the 90 minutes of a 2-0 home loss to Sydney.

GERMANY

Dimitris Diamantakos (St. Pauli/German Bundesliga 2): Did not participate in a 1-0 home defeat against Hannover 96.

Ioannis Gelios (Holstein/German Bundesliga 2): The goalkeeper conceded the one goal in a 2-1 victory at Dynamo Dresden.

Panagiotis Vlachodimos (Grossaspach/Liga 3): Scored a goal as Grossaspach conceded a narrow 2-1 loss to Magdeburg in the third tier of German football.

NETHERLANDS

Konstantinos Lamprou (Vitesse/Eredivisie): Kept on the bench in a 3-2 defeat against Heerenveen on the road.

Giorgos Strezos (Willem II/Eredivisie): Remained an unused substitute with Willem II dispatching Sparta 4-0.

James Efmorfidis (Almere City/Eerste Divisie): Almere City will play on Monday.

BELGIUM

Stergos Marinos (Charleroi/Jupiler League): Remained on the bench as Charleroi defeated Waasland-Beveren 2-0 at home.

Fjorin Durmishaj (Waasland-Beveren/Jupiler League): Emerged as a substitute in the 69th minute of the 2-0 loss to Waasland-Beveren.

Nikos Kenourgios (Zulte Waregem/Jupiler League): Didn’t play any part in a 1-0 home victory against Eupen.

ITALY

Giorgos Kyriakopoulos (Sassuolo/Serie A): Played the entire 90 minutes of a thrilling 2-2 draw at reigning champions Juventus, earning a booking from the referee in the process.

BELARUS

Giorgos Katsikas (Dynamo Brest/Belarusian Premier League): Didn’t participate in the 3-1 win against Dinamo Minsk in the capital of Belarus. Dynamo Brest are the newly-crowned league champions.

SWITZERLAND

Konstantinos Dimitriou (FC Basel/Swiss Super League): Stayed on the bench with Basel gaining a vital 3-0 victory against leaders Young Boys.

SCOTLAND

Marios Ogboe (Hamilton/Scottish Premiership): Started the match against Livingston and was substituted in the 64th minute. The battle ended level at 0-0.

TURKEY

Stelios Kitsiou (Ankaragucu/Turkish Super Lig): Played the entirety of the thumping 5-0 defeat against Alanyaspor on the road.

Dimitris Chatziisaias (Rizespor/Turkish Super Lig): Kept on the bench as Rizespor managed to Konyaspor 3-1 at home.

Andreas Tatos (Altay/Turkish First League): Competed against Eskisehirspor for the full 90 minutes. The teams played to a 1-1 draw.

POLAND

Michalis Manias (Pogon Szczecin/Ekstraklasa): Kept on the bench during a 1-1 draw at Arka.

Konstantinos Triantafyllopulos (Pogon Szczecin/Ekstraklasa): Played the entire 90 minutes in defence for Pogon in the same match.

BULGARIA

Antonis Stergiakis (Slavia Sofia/Parva Liga): Remained an unused substitute in a 2-0 triumph at Etar.

Theofilos Kouroupis (Vitosha Bistritsa/Parva Liga): Didn’t play any part in a 1-1 draw against Dunav Rus on the road.

Dimitris Chantakias (Cherno More/Parva Liga): Didn’t emerge from the bench as Cherno More overpowered Botev Vratsa 4-1 at home.

Giannis Kargas (Levski Sofia/Parva Liga): Played the entire 90 minutes of a 1-1 draw at FC Beroe.

SLOVAKIA

Lazaros Rota (Michalovce/Fortuna Liga): Stayed on the pitch against SLF Sered for the entire 90 minutes. Michalovce earned a 2-0 victory.

Kyriakos Savvidis (Michalovce/Fortuna Liga): He also played the entirety of the game with Sered away from home.

Dimitris Popovits (Michalovce/Fortuna Liga): Did not participate in the victory against Sered.

Christos Kountouriotis (Michalovce/Fortuna Liga): Contributed with an assist for the second goal of the 2-0 triumph at Sered. Used as a substitute in the 89th minute.

ROMANIA

Aris Soiledis (FCSB/Liga 1): FCSB will play on Tuesday.

Athanasios Papazoglou (FC Voluntari/Liga 1): FC Voluntari will next take to the pitch on Tuesday evening.

Okan Chatziterzoglou (Academica Clinceni/Liga 1): Played the entire 90 minutes of a large 5-2 triumph at Chindia Targoviste.

Minas Chalkiadakis (FC Botosani/Liga 1): FC Botosani will play on Monday.

HUNGARY

Theodoros Berios (Kisvarda/OTP Bank Liga): Used as a substitute in the 81st minute of a 2-0 home win against Honved.

Stavros Tsoukalas (Kisvarda/OTP Bank Liga): Played the full 90 minutes in the match with Honved as Kisvarda triumphed 2-0.

AUSTRIA

Anastasios Avlonitis (Sturm Graz/Austrian Bundesliga): Helped Sturm Graz beat Tirol 5-1 on the road by playing the full 90 minutes.

Taxiarchis Fountas (Rapid Vienna/Austrian Bundesliga): Scored the second goal in a big 4-0 win at LASK Linz. Dished out an assist for the opening goal and was substituted in the 73rd minute.

Kosmas Gezos (Klagenfurt/Austrian Bundesliga 2): Played the entire 90 minutes of a 4-1 loss to Austria Vienna II away from home.

Polydoros Gezos (Klagenfurt/Austrian Bundesliga 2): Started the game against Austria Vienna II and was removed at the half-time break.

AZERBAIJAN

Vangelis Platellas (Neftchi Baku/Premier League): Used as a substitute in the 77th minute of a 0-0 draw against Sabail on the road.

Anastasios Papazoglou (Zira/Premier League): Kept on the bench as Zira were well beaten by a score of 3-0 by Gabala.
