Greece U17 breezed through the first qualification round with impressive ease. Hosting their games in Nafpaktos, the Greeks earned a maximum haul of nine points against Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Germany, beating the latter 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

Giorgos Koutsias scored two goals in the second half to gain the three points against Germany, who also qualify from Group 9 in second place.

The draw for the Elite Round of qualifying will take place on December 3.

However, it was a different story for the under 19 national team, who conceded a 1-0 defeat to their Belgian hosts to suffer elimination.

The only goal was scored by Arne Cuypers in the third minute of stoppage time at the end of the second half. Belgium then had Nicolas Raskin sent off with a second yellow card, but Greece didn’t have enough time to get back into the game.

The Greeks finish in third place of Group 4 with one victory and two defeats from the three matches. Belgium and Iceland progress to the Elite Round of qualifying.
