This following statement was released by Panathinaikos on Monday:

“Panathinaikos FC announces the signing of Greek striker Fotis Ioannidis. The 20-year-old has signed a four-year contract.”

“I’m really happy and grateful to join such a great club,” revealed Ioannidis after signing his contract. “I would like to thank Levadiakos, my teammates and the president. Of course, I also want to say thank you to my new family, Panathinaikos. This is a dream which I had since I was a child. I want to achieve a lot with this team, and I will prove myself on the pitch. The reason why I signed for Panathinaikos was the project which was presented to me. It’s a great challenge for me.”

During the 2019/2020 campaign, Ioannidis made 19 Super League 2 appearances for Levadiakos, scoring five goals along the way. The talented forward also participated in one match for the under 21 Greek national team against Scotland in UEFA U21 European Championship last November.

Ioannidis transferred to Levadiakos from Olympiacos Chalkida in 2016.

FAUSTO LEAVES FOR GIMNASTIC ON LOAN

In other news, Panathinaikos confirmed the departure of Spanish midfielder Fausto Tienza, who has joined Gimnastic on loan:

“Panathinaikos announces the loan of Fausto Tienza to Gimnastic. The agreement with the Spanish club will last for one year.”

Fausto joined Panathinaikos in September 2019. However, he failed to make any kind of impression in Greece, only playing in two Greek Cup games for the Athenians. It’s worth noting that the 30-year-old did spend the second half of the 2019/2020 season on loan at Gimnastic.
