Trikala tasted their first defeat of the season as they fell on the road to Niki Volou 2-0. The hosts expertly executed a counter-attack in the 23rd minute, and it was Dominguez who got the final touch to give his side the lead. The league leaders had multiple opportunities to equalize in the second half, but it was Niki Volou who put the game away in the 76th minute as Garcia’s free-kick took a deflection and ended up in the back of the net. The result moves Niki Volou into eighth place with 18 points while Trikala remain top of the table with 28 points, three ahead of second-placed Ionikos.

The weekend’s derby between second-placed Ionikos and third-placed Veria ended in a goalless draw, a result that only benefits league leaders Trikala. During the 90 minutes of play, Veria seemed the likelier side to open the scoring, but their chance went begging. As a result, Ionikos remain in second place, three points behind leaders Trikala, and three points ahead of closest contenders Veria.

Ierapetra remained in fourth place as they took down struggling Kalamata 2-3 in a five-goal thriller. The Cretan side pulled ahead in the seventh minute through Apostolopoulos before Osmanagic equalized for the hosts from the penalty spot in the 25th minute. After the restart, however, the visitors restored their lead when Shehu’s header from a corner ended up in the back of the net. Things went from bad to worse for Kalamata in the 63rd minute as Vukmirovic was sent off with a red card, and just six minutes later, Vogiatzis added a third for Ierapetra to give the visitors a two-goal lead. Konstantinopoulos cut the deficit in half in the 83rd minute, but it was not enough as Kalamata dropped to the bottom of the table with their fourth consecutive defeat (eighth defeat of the season). Ierapetra are fourth with 21 points.

In another highly anticipated match, Kavala defeated 10-man Olympiacos Volou 2-0 in Macedonia. After a goalless first half, Gavriilidis put the hosts ahead on 54 minutes from close range, and Olympiacos Volou’s task became much harder when Fazos was sent off in the 67th minute. Melissopoulos secured victory for Kavala with his stoppage-time marker as the Macedonian side moved into fifth, along with Olympiacos Volou, on 20 points.

In other action, Ialysos recorded a vital victory in their fight to avoid the drop as they took down Thesprotos 2-0 while Diagoras dismantled Aspropyrgos 0-3 on the road. Egaleo are just above the relegation zone after a 1-1 draw with 12-placed Triglia.
