Kalamata held while Veria win again

Kalamata failed to win for the first time in the 2019/2020 Football League season as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Niki Volou, Veria made it two victories on the bounce and Egaleo, Diagoras Rodou, Ierapetra and Aspropyrgos also won.

In what has been a strong start to the campaign, league leaders Kalamata had initially won their first two games of the season 2-0 against Egaleo and Ialisos respectively, but their winning streak came to a halt with a 1-1 draw at Niki Volou. Until 19 minutes from time Kalamata were staring defeat in the face after the hosts took the lead early in the second half, but the away team did equalise when Amer Osmanagic converted a penalty.

Hosting Triglia, FC Veria tallied their second win of the new season to go joint top of the table, as goals from Alexandros Zourkos and Anastasios Kanoulas earned a tense 2-1 victory. Triglia only have three points from the opening three games.

Egaleo gained their maiden victory as they beat Ialisos 1-0 in Athens with a goal in the 38th minute of play. Diagoras Rodou also picked up their first win as they comfortably defeated Thesprotos 4-1 on the island of Rhodes, Olympiacos Volou salvaged a dramatic 1-1 draw at Trikala with Thomas Graikos scoring a last-minute equaliser and Ierapetra claimed a 1-0 triumph against Ionikos on the road.

Aspropyrgos had defeated Kavala 1-0 in the only game played on Saturday.
