Ionikos recorded an important win on the road as they defeated Niki Volos 1-2 on Saturday. Goufas opened the scoring for the visitors with a well-placed shot from Kallergis’ cross in the 24th minute. In the second half, Niki Volos found the equalizer through Kapos in the 50th minute, but Ionikos responded just six minutes later as Manalis re-gave the visitors the lead. Ionikos were left with 10-men when Goufas, the game’s first goalscorer, was sent off with a yellow card. The hosts, however, were unable to take advantage of the extra man and in the 84th minute, Gacia was also sent off for a second yellow card offense with both teams ending the game with 10-men. The result moves Ionikos tied for fourth with 10 points while the struggling side from Thessaly are in the relegation zone in 12th place with just four points.

Kavala moved top of the table along with Ierapetra and Veria as they thrashed Thesprotos 4-1. Kavala opened the scoring in the 24th minute with Gavriilidis but in the final moments of the first half, Thesprotos pulled level with Dalla Costa. The hosts put on a show in after the restart half as they netted three second-half goals. Vosahlik regave Kavala the lead from the penalty spot in the 66th minute and the same player doubled the hosts’ lead just six minutes later. Papadopoulos sealed the three points for Kavala in the 79th minute to give the Macedonian side a 4-1 victory. Thesprotos remain in the relegation zone tied for 12th with Niki Volos on just four points.

Veria share top spot with Kavala and Ierapetra after they dispatched Egaleo 3-1. Mouratidis (7) put Veria in front early on before an own goal from Zourcou in the 29th minute evened things up. Two second-half goals from Kanoulas (62) and Chantzaras (88) gave Veria an important 3-1 victory to move the Vassilisa to Vorra up to 11 points. Egaleo, on the other hand, are in ninth with just eight points from six matches.

Like Kavala and Veria, Ierapetra took full advantage of Kalamata’s loss to Olympiacos Volos and share top-spot as they returned to winning ways by taking down Triglia 0-2. Minas gave the visitors the early lead in the sixth minute and Papadopoulos sealed the three points for the Cretans in the 72nd minute. Triglia are bottom of the table with just three points from six matches.

After thrashing Larissa during the midweek in Cup action, Kalamata were handed a costly 1-2 defeat at home to Olympiacos Volos.
