Aris have announced the appointment of Savvas Kamperidis as the new head coach of the club following Soulis Markopoulos sudden resignation earlier this week.

In an official statement on the club’s website, Aris confirmed that they’re handing the coaching reins to Kamperidis as the club look to dig out of the relegation zone after a 2-8 start to the Basket League season.

“ARIS BC announced the agreement with Savvas Kamperidis, who will be the new head coach of our team. The 41-year-old coach met with President of the Aris Athletic Club, Lefteris Arvanitis today (10/12) and agreed to take over the technical leadership of the team,” the club’s statement read.

Kamperidis has deep ties at Aris having spent the 2005/2006 season with the Kitrinomavri as a player prior to retiring in 2012. Following the end of his playing days, Kamperidis returned to the Nick Galis Hall as he joined the Aris coaching staff up until last May.

Kamperidis will hold his first practice in charge of team on Wednesday before making his debut as head coach in the derby clash with AEK at the OAKA Olympic Indoor Hall on Saturday.
