APOEL released this following statement on Tuesday:

“APOEL FC announces the agreement with footballer Viktor Klonaridis. The player was born on 28/07/1992.

“Klonaridis started his professional career in the system of AEK FC before being promoted to the first team. This was followed by a transfer to Lille, before he returned to Greece with Panathinaikos. After that, he had a short spell at Lens, subsequently being loaned to Panathinaikos ahead of his transfer to AEK in 2017. He transferred to APOEL as a free agent.

“He is 180 centimeters tall and plays as a striker.

“The partnership lasts for two years until May 2022.

“We welcome Viktor to APOEL, wishing him many titles and European successes with the blue and yellow jersey.”

The main factor behind Klonaridis’ decision to join APOEL was Ouzounidis. In the past, the pair teamed up to great effect, with Ouzounidis managing to draw the best out of Klonaridis when working as the head coach of Panathinaikos and AEK. Klonaridis left AEK at the end of June after his contract with the Enosi expired.

At times, the talented 27-year-old forward showed glimpses of his potential with AEK, but he was often hindered by injury problems and a lack of consistency. He scored two goals in the 2019/2020 Super League season in matches against Volos NFC and Panionios on the road.
