Koulouris double lights up Atromitos win over Panaitolikos
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 1
Young Greece forward Efthimis Koulouris was the star of the show for Atromitos with a double strike as Damir Canadi’s side got their SuperLeague season off to a perfect start with a 2-1 win at Panaitolikos on Saturday, while Larissa also began brightly win a 1-0 win over Apollon Smyrnis.

The on-loan PAOK forward scored in the 36th and 76th minutes, sandwiching a Franco Mazurek penalty for the home side three minutes before half-time to prove the difference between the two teams and earn last season’s surprise package Atromitos a deserved three-point haul.
Koulouris, who at 22 years of age already has two Greece caps to his name, is expected to provide the driving force for Atromitos to kick on after last season’s great success of a fourth-placed finish.
The Peristeri club unfortunately suffered a heart-breaking Europa League exit in the second qualifying round to Dinamo Brest earlier this summer, but there were enough signs in Agrinio that this team has plenty of unfinished business to attend to.
Larissa start with narrow win over Apollon
At the Rizoupoli stadium Apollon began what is expected to be another season of struggle with a defeat as Larissa earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Athens club.
Sotiris Antoniou’s Thessaly outfit took all three points thanks to Miloš Deletić’s solitary strike on the half-hour.
The 24-year-old Serbian midfielder pounced on a poor clearance from an Apollon defender to hammer home a low shot from the edge of the penalty area which beat home goalkeeper Huanderson’s despairing dive.
There were a couple of half chances for both sides after that, but Larissa looked the more threatening side and the result and performance does not bode well for Apollon, who would have been hoping for a better start against a team considered to be their relegation rivals ahead of the big kick-off.
