Late penalty gives Platanias win over AE Karaiskakis

A penalty deep in the second half gave Platanias a 1-0 victory over AE Karaiskakis in Friday’s Super League 2 action.

Platanias recorded a narrow 1-0 victory over AE Karaiskakis in the opening match of round 20 in the Super League 2 regular season on Friday afternoon. Despite the visitors from Arta looking the better side and with more goal-scoring opportunities, it was a penalty deep in the second half that saw Platanias emerge victoriously. 

The hosts were awarded a spot-kick in the 86th minute when Loukinas was brought down in the penalty area, and the same player stepped up to make no mistake from 11 meters. Kapias was sent off with a second yellow card after committing the penalty, leaving Karaiskakis with ten men for the final minutes.

The result moves Platanias into eighth place on 26 points, four shy of sixth-placed Apollon Larissa, while AE Karaiskakis remain in fifth place with 31 points.
