Olympiacos have revived their EuroLeague playoff hopes yet again with an emphatic 89-69 win over Bayern Munich at the Peace and Friendship Stadium on Tuesday night.

Zach LeDay’s 23 points and a further 20 from Nikola Milutinov helped Olympiacos return to the win the column in the EuroLeague after a loss to AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan put somewhat of a dent in the club’s playoff aspirations.

Despite not having the services of Vassilis Spanoulis at their disposal, Olympiacos’ offense was firing on all cylinders as the Erythrolefki managed to shoot over 60% from the field while also adding 22 team assists.

Bayern, who were led by Petteri Koponen’s 15-point performance, struggled right from tip-off as the Germans quickly fell behind by double digits in the first quarter.

Unlike many other occasions this season, Olympiacos didn’t rest on their laurels and continued to set the tempo in the second quarter as David Blatt’s men opened-up a 50-31 lead by halftime.

With the game all-but locked up, Olympiacos put the finishing touches in the third quarter with another resolute stretch extended the home side’s lead past 20 points.

A bit of damage limitation from Bayern in the fourth quarter shaved a few points off Olympiacos’ lead, but there was no dampening the spirit of the home crowd in Piraeus as their side remain in control of their destiny with just three rounds of action in the regular season.

The defeat all-but eliminated Bayern Munich, who would likely need to win the rest of their games and rely on plenty of help elsewhere just to have a chance of sneaking into the final playoff spot.

Olympiacos, who improved to 14-13 on the season, will now travel to Spain to face Herbalife Gran Canaria on Thursday in yet another must-win game for the Erythrolefki.
