Until the second minute of stoppage time, it looked as though the game in Ioannina would end in a goalless draw, but Alfredo Mejia took advantage of a defensive slip to snatch a vital victory for Levadiakos.

PAS Giannina, still leading the Super League 2 with 30 points from 13 matches, have now conceded their first loss of the championship. The Ioannina outfit hold a six-point advantage over second-placed Apollon Smyrnis.

Levadiakos, for their part, climb to third position with 23 points on the board. Both of these clubs competed in the Super League in the 2018/2019 season.

In truth, it was largely a forgettable encounter at the Zosimades Stadium, with the teams struggling to create any clear opportunities throughout the 90 minutes.

However, with the match entering its second minute of injury time at the end of the second half, Levadiakos struck a killer blow.

With PAS defenders clumsily losing their footing, Mejia calmly collected a low cross from the right wing inside the box, subsequently slotting the ball under the emerging Lefteris Choutesiotis.

This is Levadiakos’ fourth successive league win.
