Manousos is enjoying a superb campaign. On Saturday evening, the Atromitos forward grabbed a hat trick in Volos, scoring from close range in the eighth, 38th and 44th minutes of play to inspire his team to a tense 3-2 victory.

The 32-year-old has now scored 14 goals in the 2019/2020 Super League season.

However, despite the three-goal deficit, Volos didn’t give up. Displaying plenty of character, Volos got to within two goals through markers from Alexandros Kiziridis and Tasos Tsokanis, and Erik Jendrisek was denied a late equaliser by Balazs Megyeri.

Atromitos had Nill De Pauw sent off for a second yellow card in the 86th minute.

The Peristeri outfit are in second spot of the playouts. Volos are fifth.

In Lamia, it was somewhat of a bore draw between the hosts and AEL, as the two teams played to a rather uninspiring 0-0 draw.

Few chances were witnessed as the defences cancelled each other out.

At the moment, Lamia sit in fourth place of the playouts with 34 points, one behind AEL.

HIGHLIGHTS

Elsewhere, Xanthi are still having to contend with relegation fears, as they slipped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat at home to playout leaders Asteras Tripolis.

Asteras quickly took the lead in the fifth minute of proceedings as Xesc Regis turned the ball beyond Carlos Abad when connecting with a sweeping cross from the left wing.

Christos Lisgaras drew Xanthi level with a thumping header 10 minutes into the second half. Nevertheless, with five minutes left on the clock, Asteras snatched the win as Luis Fernandez calmly scored from the spot. Sudais Ali Baba had earned the penalty for the away team after he had been felled in the box.

Xanthi are one point above bottom club Panionios with one round remaining.
