AEK fans can breathe a deep sigh of relief. As previously reported on AGONAsport, Al-Nasr reached an agreement with AEK for the transfer of captain Mantalos, offering in the region of 4.3 million euros for the midfielder. AEK accepted the bid from the Dubai-based club and had been waiting for Al-Nasr to submit the relevant documentation to finalise the transfer.

However, on Wednesday evening, Al-Nasr unexpectedly informed AEK that they have officially withdrawn their offer for Mantalos due to unspecified circumstances. Al-Nasr thanked AEK for their cooperation during the negotiation process and stated that they are no longer interested in purchasing the Greek international.

This consequently means that Mantalos will be available for selection when AEK face Olympiacos in the 2019/2020 Greek Cup final at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday. Transfermarkt values Mantalos at four million.

The gifted attacking midfielder has been a key figure for AEK since transferring to the Athens-based club in 2014 from Xanthi. During the 2019/2020 campaign, the 28-year-old took a leading role with his productive, creative play, contributing with 11 goals and 13 assists across all competitions.
