In the middle of February, the Hellenic Football Federation confirmed that a friendly had been scheduled against the Netherlands in Enschede on May 28, however that game has now been cancelled. As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, all Dutch football has been postponed until June 1, meaning that the Holland - Greece match will not take place.

After initially being hesitant to introduce major restrictions, the Dutch authorities have eventually increased the intensity of their battle against coronavirus, with football completely off the menu until the summer.

The news comes as another blow to the coaching staff headed by John van ‘t Schip. This month, Greece were meant to face Costa Rica and Mexico in the USA, however the coronavirus also resulted in those games being called off. The Greeks will return to competitive action in September when the 2020/2021 UEFA Nations League is set to begin.

Greece will face Kosovo, Moldova and Slovenia in League C of the Nations League.

Furthermore, assuming that nothing drastic happens in the next few months, the Ethniki Omada will play all home games of the Nations League at the Olympic Stadium in Athens. Given the ridiculously low attendances, the OAKA isn’t popular among players and coaches alike, however there is no alternative option on the table.
