The hosts got off to a bad start as Asteras Tripolis were the ones who found the breakthrough on 16 minutes. Manias did well to find an opening behind the Larissa defense and his effort was stopped by Kristinsson, but Kaltsas was there to put away the rebounded effort with a well-placed strike. Asteras Tripolis wasted a good chance with Manias to double their lead in the 29th minute and just seconds later, on the other end, Larissa were awarded a rather controversial penalty from Munafo’s foul on Kunic. Fatjon stepped up and converted the spot kick to pull Larissa level.

It was a rather uneventful second half. Larissa, who have a tough schedule ahead, pressed on for the winner, knowing that three points where needed after PAS Giannina overcame Levadiakos in the Super League’s earlier match. The hero for the hosts was defender Vaggelis Moras, who netted his first ever goal in the Greek top flight, with a powerful header from Zivkovic’s corner in the 69th minute. Moras dedicated his marker to his late brother, who passed away in 2015 after a battle with leukemia.

The result moves Larissa into ninth place with 30 points, four ahead of 13th placed PAS Giannina, while Asteras Tripolis sit in a dangerous 12th place just one point ahead of the Ajax of Epirus.
