EB PAU-LACQ-ORTHEZ 67-79 AEK (GROUP B)

For the second time this season, AEK were far too strong for Pau-Lacq-Orthez, comfortably defeating their French opponents 79-67 on the road to claim their sixth victory in eight Basketball Champions League games.

After a great first half, the Kitrinomavri contrived to lose the concluding two quarters, but it made little difference to the overall outcome.

Keith Langford, who has been in superb form for AEK during the current campaign, tallied 15 points and three rebounds.

AEK will host Hapoel Jerusalem at the OAKA Indoor Hall next week, while Pau-Lacq-Orthez face RASTA Vechta away from home.

BESIKTAS 98-83 PAOK (GROUP D)

Having previously embarked on a three-game winning streak, PAOK felt the bitter taste of defeat in Turkey on Tuesday, coming up short against Besiktas.

PAOK and Besiktas now share the same 3-5 record in the Basketball Champions League after eight rounds of play.

Poor defensive play prevented PAOK from making a challenge as the Dikefalos tou Vorra lose the first three quarters. Jordan Theodore, the former AEK star, achieved a double-double for Besiktas with 12 points and 11 assists.

PAOK will aim to get back to winning ways when hosting Szombathely in their next game. Besiktas, for their part, will play against Zaragoza in Spain.

PERISTERI 87-79 GAZIANTEP (GROUP C)

Peristeri are still on course for the playoffs. In recent weeks, Peristeri have shown signs of weakness, but they were at their best against Gaziantep in a key clash. Peristeri now possess a 5-3 record in the tournament.

Brose Bamberg, Mornar Bar, Gaziantep and VEF Riga all sit behind Peristeri in the standings.

Kingsley Moses took a leading role for Peristeri as he registered an impressive double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

On matchday nine, Peristeri will play against VEF Riga in Latvia, while Gaziantep host Nymburk.

PROMITHEAS LOSE IN ITALY

Over in the EuroCup, Promitheas couldn’t beat Bologna in Italy, falling to a 88-75 defeat in the ninth round of the regular season.

However, despite this loss, the Patras-based outfit are already guaranteed a place in the knockout stages of the EuroCup. Promitheas have six victories from nine matches in the competition.
