Olympiacos released this following statement on Thursday:

“Olympiacos FC announces the renewal of the contract with Mr. Pedro Martins.”

Martins renewed his deal with Olympiacos until the summer of 2022. The papers were signed this evening at the club’s offices:

He will now earn in the region of one million euros per year in Piraeus, while there is also a release clause of four million in his new contract with the Erythrolefki.

Martins’ previous deal with Olympiacos had been due to expire in June.

“It only took five minutes to find an agreement with Evangelos Marinakis,” stated Martins when speaking to MEGA. “I am very happy to continue working in the Olympiacos family. First of all, we all want the season to resume, we’re hungry to win both the championship and the Greek Cup. Also, we have the game against Wolves in Europe. Olympiacos, a club with history, needs to win titles. We can’t wait to experience wonderful moments with our fans at the Karaiskakis Stadium again!”

Overall, Martins has been at the Olympiacos helm for 95 matches across all competitions so far since joining in 2018, registering 64 victories, 18 draws and 13 defeats. The popular 49-year-old Portuguese manager, who quickly earned the respect of the Olympiacos faithful after moving to Piraeus two years ago, introduced a calm, productive and professional approach to a club which had previously been in turmoil.

During the current campaign, Olympiacos impressed by remaining undefeated in the Super League regular season, establishing a large 14-point advantage over second-placed PAOK. Martins’ troops also famously knocked Arsenal out on their way to the Round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League.

The Super League playoffs might begin in June. Olympiacos are also waiting to play the second leg of the Europa League Last 16 tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
