OFFICIAL: Super League to return on June 6-7

The state has issued the green light for the 2019/2020 Super League playoffs and playouts to begin on the weekend of June 6-7.

It’s time for Greek football to return. As previously reported on AGONAsport, the Super League organisation had drawn up a plan for the 2019/2020 playoffs and playouts to begin on the weekend of June 6-7, and that proposal has now been formalised after the government issued its official approval on Wednesday morning. All 26 rounds of the regular season had been completed before the championship was called off in March as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic.

The full schedule for the playoffs and playouts is due to be finalised at a Board of Directors meeting on Thursday. This following announcement was made by the Super League:

“It is announced that on Thursday 28/05/2020 at 13:00 there will be a teleconference of the Super League Board of Directors.

“These issues are on the agenda as follows:

“1/ Draw for playout games. Finalisation of the playoff and playout matches.

“2/ Miscellaneous.”

All Super League clubs are currently holding full group training sessions at their respective bases.

Olympiacos, PAOK, AEK, Panathinaikos, OFI and Aris qualified for the championship playoffs, while Atromitos, AE Larissa, Asteras Tripolis, Lamia, Volos NFC, Xanthi, Panetolikos and Panionios dropped into the relegation playouts. Reports have stated that the Super League season will subsequently be completed on July 19.
