OFI 4-0 KAVALA (AGG. 4-2)

High-flying OFI, who find themselves in third position of the Super League, had their backs to the wall following a shock 2-0 loss to Kavala in the first leg of their Greek Cup tie. Nevertheless, the Cretans produced a powerful display in the return, thrashing their opponents 4-0 in Heraklion to secure progress to the next phase of the competition.

Kosmas Tsilianidis broke the deadlock in the 38th minute. Fired up, OFI subsequently took apart Kavala in the second half, with two goals from Juan Neira giving them the aggregate advantage. Joao Figueiredo completed the job in stoppage time.

Neira’s first goal was particularly impressive as he hooked a delicate lob over the goalkeeper from long range.

ASTERAS TRIPOLIS 3-2 PLATANIAS (AGG. 4-2)

It turned out to be a thoroughly nervy afternoon for Asteras. Possessing a 1-0 advantage from the first leg in Chania, Asteras were favourites to progress, but Platanias forced an extra 30 minutes of play as Giannis Loukinas scored the only goal of regulation time in the 14th minute.

Walter Iglesias equalised in the 91st minute, but in the closing moments of the first half of extra time, Miguel handed Platanias a 2-1 lead - a score which would have taken the Cretan side into the Round of 16 on the away goals rule.

However, Asteras came good in the end in Tripoli, with Iglesias later converting a penalty and Luis Fernandez hitting the target in the concluding minute.
