Asteras Tripolis came from behind to defeat AOX Kissamikos 2-1 in a must-win game for the Arkades. The Cretan side took the lead with Xydas’ spot kick late in the first half, however Triantafyllopoulos’ header four minutes later quickly brought the hosts level before the break. The comeback was completed midway through the second half when Douvikas’ strike from inside the penalty area gave Asteras Tripolis the lead which stood at the final whistle.

The result moves Asteras up to three points, tied with Kissamikos, but the Arkades hold the tiebreaker advantage after defeating AOX Kissamikos today. A win for Tripoli against Acharnaikos on the final matchday will assure their place in the knockout stages of the competition.

Atromitos salvaged a point away to Trikala against the local side in a match that ended in a 1-1 draw. Trikala, who were exceptional against the current Superlegaue leaguers, took the lead early in the second half when Karasalidis turned the ball into the back of the net from Golia’s free-kick. The hosts held their advantage until the 75th minute when a good team build up from the visitors left Manousos with an easy task to slot the ball into the Trikala goal, pulling Atromitos level. In the final quarter-hour, neither team could find a winner and the two sides shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

The result keeps both teams in the driver’s seat for a place in the knockout stages as they sit atop the group standings with four points each. Kerkyra lurk in third with three points while Sparti have been eliminated with zero points from their first two matches.

The derby of the day was played in Irakleio between OFI and Platanias at the Yedi Kule stadium. OFI were the better side early in the match and their pressure paid off in the 9th minute when Chanti put the hosts ahead with a great finish from Kioliara’s cross. The hosts kept up their pressure and came close to doubling their lead but the woodwork kept the score at 1-0. Platanias looked for an equalizer in the second half but OFI held strong to keep the clean sheet and move up to six points from two games in group play.

The result leaves OFI and Apollon Smyrnis tied for first with six points while Platanias sit back on three points. Iraklis did not participate in the cup (fourth team in the group) and have no points. OFI and Apollon Smyrnis matchup on the final matchday while Platanias will be awarded all three points as they are scheduled to face Iraklis.
