Olympiacos closing in on Toure

Deadline day approaches in the summer transfer window and Olympiacos are close to pulling off the signing of the summer with veteran midfielder Yaya Toure.

Watch LIVE from AGONAsport: Burnley - Olympiacos, UEFA Europa League Playoffs on Thursday August 30th. Details here.

After Olympiacos booked their place in the Europa League group stages, the focus at the club now turns to deadline day in the 2018 summer transfer window and a busy day is expected at the office. Yaya Toure’s name was linked with a move to Olympiacos on Wednesday and since then, the rumors have intensified regarding the midfielder’s return to Piraeus. Toure’ manager, Dimitriy Seluk, ignited these rumors as he posted on Twitter that Toure has already passed a medical in London for a club that played Burnley in August.

Toure, who is a free agent, has been linked with many clubs this summer and recently denied moves to Wolfsburg, West Ham, and a 9 million Euro contract with Spartak Moscow. In August, Burnley have played Aberdeen (Europa League), Espanyol (Friendly), Istanbul Basaksehir (Europa League), Southampton (Premier League), Watford (Premier League), Fulham (Premier League), and of course…Olympiacos.

Olympiacos Vice President, Savvas Theodoridis, confirmed the rumors linking Toure with Olympiacos after the Erythrolefki played to a 1:1 draw against Burnley in the Europa League playoffs. The former goalkeeper stated “Toure wants to return to Olympiacos. He asked to return to the club.” If Olympiacos complete the signing, it will surely be the biggest one of the summer for the SuperLeague.

Olympiacos find their backup keeper

Olympiacos have been in search for a second goalkeeper that will serve as a backup to Andreas Gianniotis and all looks as if the man of choice will Porto goalkeeper Jose Sa. The 25-year old is currently the second string keeper at FC Porto behind former Real Madrid legend, Iker Casillas.

Sa was a personal choice of coach Pedro Martins as the two worked together at Maritimo. The keeper has been with Porto since 2016 and registered 14 appearances in the Portuguese Primeira Liga and five in the UEFA Champions League. He has 31 caps with Portugal's youth national teams and was recently called up by Fernando Santos for the men’s national team.

Sa is expected to arrive in Athens on Friday and sign his deal with his new club.

Olympiacos sign young Serbian winger Lazar Randjelovic

Olympiacos have signed young Serbian winger Lazar Randjelovic from FK Radnički Niš. The signing is an investment for the future as the 21-year old is a hot prospect for Serbian football. He will not join Olympiacos this season, but will play on loan at FK Radnički Niš.

Goutas joins Lech Poznan

Dimitris Goutas signed a one year loan with Lech Poznan from Olympiacos. The deal includes a buy-out clause at the end of the loan spell. Goutas was not in Martins’ plans for the new year and has decided to continue his carer elsewhere. He also enjoyed loan spells in Belgium for Kortrijk and Sint-Truidense.
