According to Kostas Nikolakopoulos from newspaper Kokkino Protathlitis, the Piraeus club have spent upwards of €20 million in the recent summer transfer window.

The biggest chunk of that expenditure went to Sporting Lisbon to secure a permanent deal for Portuguese winger Daniel Podence. That transfer cost the Erythrolefki a reported €7 million. Fellow Portuguese international Ruben Semedo was the next biggest transfer as Olympiacos purchased the player from Villarreal for €4.5 million.

Going down the list were the following transfers: Maximiliano Lovera (€3.5 million to Rosario), Jose Sa (€2.5 million to Porto), Svetozar Markovic (€1.5 million to Partizan), Fiorin Durmishaj (€600,000 to Panionios), and Bruno (€400,000 to LASK Linz).

The money spent on wages has also increased considerably with the acquisitions of those as well as others on loan or on free transfers such as Youssef El-Arabi, Mathieu Valbuena, Hillal Soudani, Yassine Benzia. In addition to those costs are the improved contracts for the likes of Kostas Fortounis, Andreas Bouchalakis, and Jose Sa. Certainly, the money the club has secured in qualifying for the Champions’ League Group Stage will help offset those new expenses.
