Olympiacos host Tottenham in Champions League Group B opener

Olympiacos will host Tottenham at the Georgios Karaiskakis to kick off their UEFA Champions League group stage campaign.

On Thursday, Olympiacos were drawn into a difficult Group B in this season’s UEFA Champions League along with German powerhouses, Bayern Munich, last year’s semi-finalists, Tottenham, and Serbian champions, Crvena Zvezda.

Olympiacos had to pass through three qualifying rounds in order to reach the group phase of Europe’s premier club competition, emphatically defeating Viktoria Plzen, Basaksehir, and Krasnodar by scoring a grand total of 13 goals and only conceding one. Olympiacos finished in second place of the 2018/2019 Super League.

Shortly after the draw, Olympiacos found out their schedule in this season's Champions League group stages. The Erythrolefki will host Tottenham at the Georgios Karaiskakis on Wednesday, September 18th in their Group B opener in what will be a critical match if Olympiacos are to have any hopes of qualifying from this difficult group. Two weeks later, the Reds will travel to Belgrade to face off against their brother club, Crvena Zvezda, in what is expected to be a memorable encounter between these two historic clubs.

Two matches against the dominant Bayern Munich will follow, first at home followed by a rematch in Munich, before Olympiacos travel to London for their second clash against Tottenham on November 26th. The 44-time Super League champions will host Crvena Zvezda on the final matchday of group play on December 11th in a fixture that could very well decide which club finishes in third place for a spot in the UEFA Europa League knockout rounds.
