Olympiacos reveal Rafinha signing

Brazilian right-back Rafinha has completed his move to Olympiacos, the Erythrolefki confirmed on Sunday evening.

This following statement was released by Olympiacos:

“Olympiacos FC announces the beginning of its cooperation with Brazilian defender Rafinha.

“Marcio Rafael Ferreira de Souza, his full name, signed his contract on Sunday. He is a footballer boasting plenty of experience and titles, and he has also represented the Brazilian national team. At Olympiacos he will wear the number 13 on his jersey.”

Transfermarkt has reported that Rafinha penned a two-year deal with Olympiacos. The talented 34-year-old, signed as a replacement for Omar Elabdellaoui, was available as a free agent after he departed Flamengo.

Rafina won the UEFA Champions League with Bayern Munich in the 2012/2013 campaign.

When playing for Bayern, Rafinha grabbed 12 goals and 40 assists in the Bundesliga, standing out with his attacking approach on the right flank. His vast experience of successfully playing in the Champions League played a big part in Olympiacos’ decision to snap him up.
