Olympiacos were no match for Real Madrid on the road, conceding a heavy 93-77 defeat in the EuroLeague regular season.

The Erythrolefki weren’t able to spring a surprise. While Olympiacos did win the fourth quarter and managed to draw the second, the Greeks were comfortably beaten by Real Madrid, as the Spanish giants took advantage of lax defending to score 93 points and register their 10th win in 13 EuroLeague regular season games.

Olympiacos, on the other hand, are still languishing in 11th place of the standings with only five victories from 13 matches. The Piraeus-based club had conceded a disappointing derby defeat to Panathinaikos last week.

Nikola Milutinov notably produced an underwhelming performance with only six points and three rebounds to his name. Will Cherry and Sasha Vezenkov were the leading Olympiacos scorers with 12 points each.

Fabien Causeur (18 points) and Facundo Campazzo (15 points) shone for Real.

Olympiacos will host a dangerous Khimki side in Piraeus next week, while Real Madrid face Olimpia Milano at home.

THE MATCH

Olympiacos contrived to immediately put themselves in a highly challenging situation.

Struggling to click at either end of the court, Olympiacos came up short 21-10 in the first quarters, as Real quickly stamped their authority on proceedings.

Olympiacos, to their credit, did show some fight in the second frame by drawing it 20-20. The visitors did later win the fourth quarter 29-21.

Nevertheless, Real were firmly in control, and a thumping 31-18 victory in the third period sealed their emphatic victory.
