Vouliagmeni found themselves leading 3-2 after the first period of play, and they later led 5-4 going into halftime. Despite that, Olympiacos were up 7-6 themselves after the third period, and ultimately came out on top by a score of 10-8.

Kyra Christmas led the Erythrolefkes with four goals, while Eleftheria Plevritou scored two goals herself. On the other hand, Eirini Ninou and Elisavet Protopapas led Vouliagmeni with two goals each.

The second leg will take place on March 28. The winner of this quarterfinal (to be decided by aggregate score), will then advance to the Final 4 of Europe’s premier water polo club competition. Olympiacos are trying to win the competition for the second time in their history, while Vouliagmeni are trying to do so for the third time.
