Panathinaikos confirm agreement with Aitor

Panathinaikos have confirmed that an agreement is in place with Aitor Cantalapiedra, who will join the Athenians as a free agent.

This following statement was released by Panathinaikos:

“Panathinaikos FC announces that it has an agreement in principle with Spanish midfielder Aitor Cantalapiedra. Procedural issues are set to be resolved in the coming days in order to complete the transfer.”

At the moment, Cantalapiedra is on the books of Twente in the Netherlands, but his contract with the organisation is expiring at the end of June. The talented 24-year-old Spanish winger is valued at 1.6 million euros by Transfermarkt.

Highly rated, Cantalapiedra enjoyed a successful 2019/2020 campaign with Twente, registering seven goals and six assists in the Eredivisie. In 2015, the Spaniard began his senior career with Barcelona, before he subsequently moved to Villarreal, Sevilla and Twente. The versatile right winger can compete on either flank or down the middle.
