Panathinaikos have announced the establishment of a basketball school for children on the autism spectrum, as the club continues its efforts to support World Autism Awareness Day (April 2nd).

Known as the PAO BC Academy ASD, the academy will give children with autism the opportunity to participate in a team sport, to socialize, and make new friends while playing a sport they love: basketball.

“Today, April 2 is World Autism Awareness Day. This day is very important for us in Panathinaikos as the PAO BC Academy is proceeding in the foundation of a special basketball school for children with autism,” read the announcement from the club.

The school will provide specially-trained basketball coaches, psychologists, and attendants and the training will always take place in the presence of a doctor.

Training is expected to be held at the OAKA Olympic Indoor Hall and without any financial cost for the families of the children through the the support of Dole Hellas and Septona.
