On Friday afternoon, Panathinaikos released this following statement:

“Panathinaikos BC has signed a contract with Andy Rautins until the end of the current season.”

Rautins, 33, played for Bahcesehir in Turkey during the 2018/2019 campaign, tallying an average of 14.3 points, 2.9 assists and 2.9 rebounds in the domestic championship. Born in New York, Rautins represents Canada on the international stage, with the shooting guard having won a bronze medal at the 2005 FIBA U21 World Cup. Rautins was the 38th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, subsequently playing for the New York Knicks in the NBA.

This will be Rautins’ maiden season in the EuroLeague.

BROWN LEAVES

Rion Brown, who struggled to make any kind of impression at Panathinaikos after transferring from Promitheas in the summer, has moved to Tofas in Turkey:

Brown, 28, only played in eight EuroLeague matches for Panathinaikos. In the Basket League, the American participated in nine games, averaging 6.3 points, 2.3 assists and 1.8 rebounds for the reigning Greek champions.

Tofas are currently competing in the Last 16 of the EuroCup.
