Hot favourites to beat Promitheas and win their third consecutive Greek crown, Panathinaikos continued from where they left off in the first match, running out 92-80 winners in Patras to make the series score 2:0 in their favour. The Athenians now require just one more win to seal the title.

The unstoppable Nick Calathes tallied yet another double double with 17 points and 14 assists. Rion Brown of Promitheas finished as the match’s top scorer with 21 points to his name.

The OAKA Indoor Hall has already been sold out for the third game between Panathinaikos and Promitheas which is scheduled for Friday.

THE MATCH

Promitheas, who were playing inside a packed arena in Patras, stayed within touch of Panathinaikos in the opening frame and kept the score level at 22-22.

However, as the game progressed, Panathinaikos’ class began to tell. In winning the second quarter 27-17, the Greens moved into the box seat, and it was an advantage which they would never relinquish.

After outscoring Promitheas by two points in the third quarter, Panathinaikos drew the fourth 23-23, and that was enough to ease to a second victory in the series.
