On Thursday, Atromitos released this following statement:

“Atromitos FC is pleased to welcome Savvas Pantelidis as the new head coach.”

Pantelidis, 54, shared his emotions from joining Atromitos:

“I am very happy to begin working with Atromitos. This club has been one of the leaders in recent seasons, always setting ambitious goals. Through our work, and the excellent squad which we have, we can achieve our targets with the supporters by our side. We want to take Atromitos even higher.”

Initially, Pantelidis began the current campaign at the helm of Aris, but he resigned following a disappointing start to the campaign. Aris were notably eliminated from the UEFA Europa League in the third qualifying round.

Pantelidis has also managed the likes of Levadiakos, PAS Giannina, Iraklis and Asteras Tripolis in the past. Atromitos currently occupy ninth place of the Super League table with 14 points from 12 matches.

Giannis Anastasiou lost his job as Atromitos head coach in November.
