PAOK will host Russian side Spartak Moscow in the first leg of the Champions League third qualifying round on Wednesday with hopes of attaining a good scoreline before their second leg match in Moscow the following Tuesday. However, the Dikefalos tou Vorra will be without their spiritual and inspirational captain, Vieirinha, who is doubtful for the first leg due to injury. The Portuguese withdrew before kickoff in last week’s second leg match away to Basel, suffering an injury during the warmup.

Although the signing of a second striker took longer than what PAOK manager Răzvan Lucescu would have liked, he will be pleased that the services of former Arsenal attacker Chuba Akpom have now been secure. He became PAOK's third transfer of the summer earlier this week. Akpom has been included in PAOK’s squad that will clash with Spartak Moscow, taking the place of Giannis Mystakidis in the roster submitted to UEFA.

PAOK 25-man squad submitted to UEFA:

Goalkeepers: Alexandros Paschalakis, Rodrigo Rey, Panagiotis Glykos, Marios Siampanis

Defenders: Léo Matos, Stelios Kitsiou, Fernando Varela, José Ángel Crespo, Stelios Malezas, Yevhen Khacheridi, Vieirinha, Eleftherios Lyratzis

Midfielders: Yevhen Khacheridi, Maurício, José Cañas, Charis Charisis, Dimitris Pelkas, Omar El Kaddouri, Amr Warda

Forwards: Dimitris Limnios, Diego Biseswar, Lazaros Lamprou, Léo Jabá, Aleksandar Prijović, Chuba Akpom

PAOK have the right to make changes to their squad up to 24 hours prior to their first leg matchup with Spartak Moscow. PAOK will host the Russian side at Toumba Stadium on Wednesday August 8, before travelling to the Russian capital for the second leg on Tuesday August 14.
