PAOK confirm Douglas transfer

PAOK have confirmed the arrival of Douglas Augusto from Corinthians, signing a four-year contract with the Brazilian midfielder.

On Monday afternoon, PAOK released this following statement:

“PAOK FC announces the arrival of Douglas Augusto from Corinthians. The Brazilian midfielder has signed a contract until 2023 and will wear the number 33 on his shirt.”

Reports have stated that PAOK paid Corinthians 2.2 million euros in order to sign Douglas.

In January, Douglas was loaned by Corinthians to EC Bahia, and the 22-year-old subsequently made nine appearances for the latter in the 2019 season. Last year, Douglas began the 2018 Serie A campaign with Fluminense, but he later transferred to Corinthians for 1.2 million in the summer.

This is Douglas’ first transfer away from his native Brazil. Transfermarkt rates his value at two million.

His signing is a welcome boost to the club after fellow midfielders Jose Canas and Yevhen Shakhov opted to leave Thessaloniki. PAOK are currently training in the Netherlands ahead of the upcoming UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
