PAOK included in 10 best teams of Europa League

PAOK have been included in the list of the 10 best teams to have competed in the UEFA Europa League.

In the past few years, PAOK have failed to make an impression in European competitions, notably losing to Ostersund in 2017, performing poorly in the 2018/2019 Europa League group phase and falling against Slovan Bratislava last summer. Nevertheless, despite their lack of success in the tournament, the Dikefalos tou Vorra have ranked in joint eighth spot of the list of the best teams to have participated in the Europa League.

PAOK share eighth position with Bordeaux, FCSB and Rapid Vienna. Overall, PAOK have played in 142 Europa League games, registering 55 victories, 41 draws and 46 defeats. The list, which was released by UEFA last week, is headed by Internazionale:

Furthermore, PAOK are one of four teams alongside Hajduk, Rosenborg and FCSB to have competed in every Europa League campaign between the 2009/2010 and 2019/2020 seasons. The reigning Greek champions have played in 80 Europa League matches over the course of the last 11 years, tallying 33 wins, 24 draws and 23 losses:

In the current season, PAOK were surprisingly knocked out of the Europa League in the qualification playoffs by Slovan Bratislava, having dropped into the competition after losing to Ajax in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round. PAOK currently occupy second position of the 2019/2020 Super League standings with the playoffs beginning.

The leading two teams of the Super League will qualify for the 2020/2021 Champions League preliminaries.
