Last week, it seemed as though the potential deal to sign Ingason had fell through, but the 25-year-old defender is now extremely close to joining PAOK. In the early hours of Thursday morning, reports appeared in the media stating that PAOK owner Ivan Savvidis had finally reached an agreement with FC Rostov in order to sign Ingason in the current winter transfer window, and the player is expected to arrive in Thessaloniki this evening at 18:00 local time.

After arriving in Greece, Ingason will immediately undergo his medical procedures, before PAOK officially reveal the transfer.

This season, Ingason has made 17 appearances for Rostov in the Russian Premier League, contributing with two goals. In the past, the centre-back has represented Brediablik, Viking FK, KSC Lokeren and Granada, later joining Rostov in June 2017 where he subsequently impressed. Ingason participated at the 2018 FIFA World Cup with Iceland and his value is rated at 4.5 million euros.

With Ingason on the verge of signing for PAOK, there are now rumours that defender Yevhen Khacheridi will leave the Greeks, with the experienced Ukrainian having failed to make a positive impression in Thessaloniki.
