PAOK have been the benchmark across all levels in Greek football for the 2018/19 season from their senior team, to the academies, and their women’s team. AGONAsport’s Athan Stylos takes a closer look at the club’s achievements this past season.

PAOK’s seniors “Invincible” campaign

PAOK’s senior team created history within the domestic league, becoming just the second club in the top flight of Greek football to finish an entire league campaign without tasting a single defeat. The first team to do so was Panathinaikos in the 1963/64 season. PAOK’s magnificent season in the Super League was the best record in the history of the top flight with 26 wins and four draws from their 30 league matches.

The team managed the second-best attacking record in the league by scoring a total of 66 goals and had the best defensive record by only conceding 14 goals. The senior team also won the Greek Cup for a third consecutive season to clinch the club’s first ever league/cup double.

Pablo Garcia guides PAOK’s U19s to glory

It was a record-breaking season for PAOK’s under 19 team, who are led by Pablo Garcia. Garcia’s men celebrated their second consecutive league title and also became the first ever team to go undefeated in a single Super League K19 season.

PAOK dominated the campaign and as a result, secured the league title with seven games to spare. They completed the season with a stunning 28 victories and two draws from their 30 league encounters and managed to pick up a total of 86 out of a possible 90 points. In fact, the champions managed to win the league 22 points ahead of runner-up AEK Athens, which was the largest point differentiation between first and second place ever recorded in the Super League K19.

PAOK also finished with the league’s best attack with 80 goals scored and the best defence with 20 goals conceded.

PAOK’S U17s fall short at the final hurdle

PAOK’s U17s side won their conference with a 12-point gap over runners-up PAS Giannina. The team completed their regular season campaign with a record of 15 wins, seven draws, and two defeats from 24 matches.

PAOK played Panathinaikos in the semi-finals of the Super League K17 playoffs where they comfortably advanced to the final with a 2:0 victory. However, the young PAOK side were unable to win the league title, as they ended up falling short at the last hurdle where they were defeated by arch rivals Olympiacos 1:0 in the final.

PAOK U15s complete unbeaten record

PAOK’s U15s comfortably won their conference by 19 points ahead of second placed Aris with a record of 15 wins and one draw from 16 matches. They finished the campaign with the best attacking and defensive record in the Super League K15. PAOK scored a total of 58 goals and only conceded four from their 16 league fixtures.

PAOK’s U15s defeated rivals Olympiacos 2:1 in the semi-finals of the Super League K15 playoffs and the following week, won the championship by defeating local rivals Aris in the derby 3:1.

The dynasty of PAOK’s women’s team continues

PAOK’s women’s team has been a powerhouse of women’s football in Greece. This past season was no different as they won the league title with a perfect 20 wins from 20 matches. PAOK’s women’s team has been the benchmark of Greek football over the last decade winning 11 of the last 12 championships and the 2019 title was their fifth straight triumph.

In the 2018/19 campaign. they managed to score 106 goals in the league and while only conceding five.
