PAOK’S 2018/19 Greek SuperLeague schedule

AGONAsport takes a look at PAOK’s schedule ahead of the 2018/19 Greek Super League commencing later this month.

PAOK head into the new season as the favourites to win their first league title since the 1984/85 season, after finishing 2nd last year behind AEK. The Greek Cup champions will start with -2 points this season due to the incident involving chairman Ivan Savvidis in last year’s title deciding derby versus AEK.

PAOK will be confident of securing maximum points throughout the first three matchdays, but will then be tested between matchdays 4 until matchday 9. Throughout that 6-game period four games stand out, as PAOK will first play defending champions AEK followed by Olympiacos. In matchday 7 they will be up against newly promoted local rivals ARIS, before playing against Panathinaikos the following week. The four derbies will come in a time where PAOK will also be giving games on the European stage, either in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League.

After matchday 10, PAOK’s schedule will ease up which could prove beneficial in the second half of the season. If the Dikefalos tou Vora sit first going into the final five fixtures their chances of claiming their first Greek title in over 30 years will increase significantly.
