Papagiannis, who impressed on Friday with a superb showing against Zalgiris in the EuroLeague, repeated the trick in Patras, recording an impressive double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds to fire Panathinaikos to an emphatic victory. These two clubs competed against each other in the final of the 2018/2019 Basket League playoffs.

Promitheas had defeated Panathinaikos at home in the Greek Cup earlier in the season.

Alongside Papagiannis, Konstantinos Mitoglou also caught the eye for the reigning Greek champions, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Jimmer Fredette registered 18 points, Deshaun Thomas scored 13 points and Nick Calathes dished out 10 assists.

Oleksandr Lypovyy tallied 18 points for Promitheas.

Making a strong start, Panathinaikos quickly put themselves in a strong position, winning the first quarter 31-21 before scoring a further 29 points in the second period. Panathinaikos ended up winning all four quarters to comfortably emerge victorious.

Boasting a 14-2 record, Rick Pitino’s men continue leading the Basket League regular season standings, while Promitheas occupy third spot with 11 victories and five losses. AEK are second with a 12-4 record.

Panathinaikos will face PAOK at the OAKA Indoor Hall next week. Promitheas, for their part, travel to Kolossos Rodou.
