Peristeri back to winning ways; Promitheas shocked by Larisa

Peristeri steadied the ship with a crucial Basket League victory at Iraklis, while Promitheas suffered a shock loss to Larisa and Lavrio, Panionios and Rethymno also won.

IRAKLIS 69-76 PERISTERI

Following two successive losses, Peristeri got back on track in Thessaloniki on Saturday, defeating Iraklis by seven points to earn a vital victory.

This is the third defeat which Iraklis have suffered in four matches.

Steven Gray (22 points) and Yanick Moreira (17 points) stood out for Peristeri with productive displays, while Olivier Hanlan registered 15 points, four assists and four rebounds for Iraklis.

At the half-time break, Iraklis did hold a slender six-point advantage, but Peristeri came roaring back in the third period with a 19-9 win.

LAVRIO 82-68 IONIKOS NIKAIA

After losing two consecutive matches in the Basket League, Lavrio managed to taste that winning feeling again, beating Ionikos Nikaia 82-68 at home.

To their credit, Ionikos responded in the concluding two quarters after they had been thumped in the opening two frames, but Lavrio comfortably held on to emerge victorious by a difference of 16 points.

Quenton Decosey was on top form for Lavrio with 24 points, four assists and two rebounds.

PANIONIOS 76-67 KOLOSSOS RODOU

Panionios became the next team to snap a losing streak.

Having lost to Ionikos Nikaia and Panathinaikos in their previous two Basket League games, Panionios got back to winning ways against Kolossos in Palaio Faliro, a victory which takes the Panthers up to eighth place of the table.

Struggling Kolossos have lost five of their last six matches.

Samardo Samuels (17 points) and Dimitris Verginis (15 points) fired Panionios to victory with solid displays.

RETHYMNO CRETAN KINGS 75-59 IFAISTOS LIMNOU

In promising form, Rethymno gained their second win in a row, beating Ifaistos Limnou 75-59 on the island of Crete. Ifaistos Limnou had been enjoying a three-game winning streak.

Conner Frankamp, consistently the top Rethymno performer, grabbed 17 points, three assists and two rebounds for the winners.

PROMITHEAS 62-76 LARISA

The shock of the day arrived in Patras.

EuroCup participants Promitheas, finalists of the 2018/2019 Basket League season, contrived to concede a surprise defeat against Larisa at home. Larisa have now won two vital away games in a row against Lavrio and Promitheas.

Vangelis Mantzaris, making his Promitheas debut after joining from UNICS Kazan in Russia, scored 13 points, dished out four assists and picked up one rebound.

Brandon Rush caught the eye with 20 points for Larisa.
