Prasini newspaper to close

Following Dimitris Giannakopoulos’ departure from Panathinaikos, it has been confirmed that the Prasini newspaper will cease operation.

It really is the end of an era for Panathinaikos. Earlier this week, Giannakopoulos announced his decision to put the basketball club up for sale, before subsequently revealing that he will also be leaving the amateur department. The 45-year-old ended all involvement with Panathinaikos on Friday after engaging in a conflict with the Gate 13 fan movement.

Furthermore, in a bid to completely rid himself of all Panathinaikos links, Giannakopoulos has made the call to close the Prasini newspaper outlet. Giannakopoulos had founded the publication in 2007.

The first edition was published on 17 March 2007. However, on Saturday 13 June 2020, the final Prasini newspaper was released. The outlet had proved to be hugely popular among Panathinaikos supporters over the years.

Nevertheless, according to reports from SDNA, Giannakopoulos will incorporate all Prasini employees into his business as to avoid any redundancies.
